🔹 Title: Studying Physics with data (gamma rays) from NASA and INFN's Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) experiment.
🔹 Speakers: Dario Gasparrini (INFN Rome “Tor Vergata” & SSDC ASI Rome), Stefano Ciprini (INFN Rome “Tor Vergata” & SSDC ASI Rome)
🔹 Abstract: The Fermi Masterclass is an initiative coordinated by the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and designed to give secondary school students a unique opportunity to discover firsthand the world of astro-particle physics.
The INFN sections of Bari, Perugia, Rome Tor Vergata, Turin and Trieste, with the support of their respective universities, are organizing a "full immersion" day of lectures and hands-on exercises in which students will be able to grapple with data from the LAT experiment aboard the Fermi satellite, put into orbit by the U.S. space agency NASA in June 2008 and built with contributions from the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF).
