Objectives

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Acquisition of the operating principles of the currently most used instrumental analytical
techniques, especially concerning the chemical-analytical theory on which the
instrumentation is based, as well as the structure of the instrument, analyzing the principles
of functionning of the various instrument components.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
Understanding of the "analytical process", from the sampling step to the expression of
results. Adequate analytical knowledge about the preliminary treatment of a sample in
analysis and for the presentation of the result. Theoretical preparation and practical study of
instrumental analytical techniques, with access to instrumentation through laboratory
exercises with analysis of real samples of moderate complexity.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
Ability to put into practice the knowledge acquired in analytical chemistry courses, choosing
the more appropriate analytical technique to the type of sample and the expected analytes
concentration.
