The Department of Physics is ranked among the firsts in Italy in recent assessments of the Physics Departments by ANVUR and US News Global Universities.

ANVUR: In the quality of research assessment exercise ANVUR-VQR (2020-2024), the Department of Physics of the University of Roma Tor Vergata gained 5 positions with respect to the previous evaluation, resulting 11th of 47 large departments of Physics in Italy, and with the highest score (ex-aequo) amongst the different departments in the University. In particular, comparing with other large departments of Physics in Italy, the Department of Physics at Roma Tor Vergata is 1st for research in experimental physics of fundamental interactions, 1st for research in astrophysics and 2nd for research in theoretical physics of matter.

US News Best Global Universities for Physics: for Physics, the University of Roma Tor Vergata is 9th in Italy, is positioned 147th worldwide (top 15%), and Physics and Space Science are the highest-ranked disciplines within the University.
