The course offers language contents focusing primarily on the key skill areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing and is organized according to lexical, functional and structural criteria developed in the grammar and topical syllabi.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Ability to develop the abilities in grammar, oral skills, reading, writing and study skills at a C1 level of the CEFR.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Theoretical and applied knowledge and understanding of the English language in academic and non-academic fields.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Ability to generate ideas and apply information on the English language and its usage in academic and non-academic fields.
MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Ability to critically gather and interpret relevant data to inform judgements that include reflections on the English language and how it is used in scientific fields.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to communicate information in oral and written forms, and to interact with others in a cooperative and constructive manner at C1 level of the CEFR.
LEARNING SKILLS: Ability to work autonomously and in group, and to search for information from a variety of up-to-date, academically relevant electronic sources, including standard reference works in the English language.
