Simone Grillo was born in Frascati (Rome) in 1995, and in 2014 he graduated at Liceo Scientifico "Edoardo Amaldi" in Rome. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Physics in 2018 at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" with a thesis in Theoretical and Computational Condensed Matter Physics supervised by Prof. Olivia Pulci and Prof. Maurizia Palummo and titled "Studio teorico sull'effetto del codrogaggio di B e P su un nanocristallo core-shell di SiGe". He gained his Master's degree in Physics cum laude in 2021 at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" with a thesis in Theoretical and Computational Condensed Matter Physics supervised by Prof. Dr. Olivia Pulci and Prof. Dr. Maurizia Palummo and titled "From bulk Tellurium to 2D Tellurene: an ab initio study". Since 2021 he has been a PhD student in Physics, member of the Condensed Matter Theory research group, under the supervision of Prof. Olivia Pulci and Prof. Maurizia Palummo. He is member of the INFN and Young Researcher at the ETSF. He is part of the H2020-MSCA-RISE-2018 "DiSeTCom" (G.A. 823728), the "PHOTO" (Prot. 2020RPEPNH) and "IRIDE" (Prot. 2022T2ZJZF) PRIN and "TIME2QUEST" INFN projects. Winner of the best poster prize at the EPIOTICS school (Erice, Italy, Ettore Majorana Center), July 2022. Principal investigator of 1 Iscra B and 4 CINECA Iscra C projects and collaborator in 3 CINECA Iscra B projects.
