The ATLAS and CMS Collaborations have analysed decays of the Higgs boson and found the first evidence of quantum entanglement between two Z bosons. The Z boson carries the weak nuclear force, and exploring whether it can be entangled may help to further our understanding of this fundamental force and its behaviour at extreme energies.
The ATLAS team at the University and INFN Roma Tor Vergata contributes to the experiment’s infrastructure through the Resistive Plate Chambers’s muon detectors, trigger, calibration and operations, key elements for this result. Furthermore, it leads numerous data analyses in the final states of the top quark, B-mesons, charm, and Higgs boson. For more information see the CERN announcement.
