Prof. Francesco Tombesi has been nominated "Science Participant" for the scientific program of the upcoming space observatory Imaging X-ray Spectroscopy Explorer (IXPE). IXPE is a joint mission between NASA and ASI/INAF, and it will be launched in orbit in late 2021. IXPE will open a new window in the hot and energetic universe being the first space observatory dedicated to the study of X-ray polarimetry.
